Vandalism at houses of worship worries religious leaders in Shreveport

Walls slathered in spray paint, doors pulled off the hinges, appliances stolen and air-conditioners ripped apart. These are the marks of vandals, whose attacks on religious institutions in the Shreveport area have worried religious leaders, reports Shreveport's The News Star.

One leader, Pastor Stacy Holden, told the newspaper that the damage was a "satanic attack."

"We began to realize that this goes deeper than just a criminal offense. This is a satanic attack on our church," Holden told The News Star. "I feel like we fought the devil, and the devil doesn't want another church in Shreveport. But by the help and grace of God, we're going to do it."

Texas church hit by vandals

A vandal or vandals who painted two City of Weatherford buildings over the weekend are believed to be responsible for causing nearly $30,000 in damage to a nearby historic church’s stained glass window.

Father Eric Vowles said it appeared someone repeatedly struck the west-facing Christ the King window of All Saints Anglican Church in 100 block of South Waco Street, damaging several areas of the glass.

Brown Paint Splashed On Altar At Yonkers Church; Police Investigate

YONKERS, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) – Police Friday afternoon were searching for the vandals who doused the altar with paint at a church in Yonkers.

The incident occurred between noon and 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Annunciation Roman Catholic Church, at 470 Westchester Ave. in Yonkers.

Monsignor Dennis Keane, the pastor of the church, said he felt “really terribly offended, terribly hurt, terribly violated.”

Police said someone poured brown paint on several spots throughout the church, including the bronze tabernacle.

Vandals damage Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church pro-life cross display

A vandal or vandals did about $300 worth of damage late Wednesday night or early Thursday morning outside Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church.

At the corner of Ninth Avenue and Seventh Street, the church had been displaying 597 crosses to represent the number of reported abortions in South Dakota in 2011.

Vandals paint '666' on NE Portland churches

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Officials are investigating two known incidents of graffiti that targeted two churches and a vehicle.

The pastor at Door of Hope church, located at 831 Northeast Fremont Street, said he was made aware of the vandalism early Monday morning.

Someone used gold and white paint to draw the “666” insignia on the brick wall and front door.

Police seeking man who vandalized Catholic church in North Hollywood

UPDATE: Vandal caught on camera knocking over statues, paintings at Los Angeles church

Police are asking for the public’s help in locating a man who vandalized the chapel of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in North Hollywood Tuesday night.

The man allegedly entered the building in the 6100 block of Cahuenga Boulevard just after 9 p.m. and pushed over statues, vases and paintings.
