Vandal yells 'Long live Satan', after egging, decapitating Nativity statues at Catholic Church in Illinois

BERWYN – Three statues were reported vandalized Dec. 7 , two of them beheaded, in a courtyard of the St. Odilo Church convent, 6617 West 23rd Street.

A nun from the convent reported hearing a disturbance in the courtyard at about 6:30 p.m. She and another nun went out to investigate and found three statures knocked to the ground, one of them with the head missing.

A volunteer who was helping prepare for the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe said a male teenager also threw an egg into the church hallway and yelled “Long live Satan” and fled.

FBI Investigating After Vandals Spray Paint ‘KKK’ On 3 Black Churches In Florida

Editor's note: As you can see from the archives on this blog, there have been many church vandalism cases reported in the news media this year. (Likely, far more have occurred but went unreported, at least in the media.) This (below) is the first report of an FBI investigation. Churches of all kinds have been vandalized, including black churches. What makes this different is that "KKK" appears. The editor is not critical of the FBI's decision to investigate this case and not other cases. The FBI cannot investigate every case and it is understandable that anti-Christian bigotry coupled with racism brings extra weight and may arguably deserve higher priority. We are all made in the image of a loving God. Let us pray that all anti-Christian bigotry will end, regardless of the form that it takes, and particularly when it is coupled with racism. Let us thank Him for being counted worthy to carry the Cross with Him. My prayers go out to the members of these churches as with all whose churches have been vandalized. May the Lord bless them and preserve them from hatred. A Blessed Advent to all. -- Lisa Graas, editor.

An FBI federal hate crime investigation is underway in Crawfordville, Fl., after someone vandalized three predominantly Black churches with Ku Klux Klan markings.

Sunday morning, the letters “KKK” were found painted on the signs of New Bridge Hope Missionary Baptist Church, Pilgrim Rest Primitive Baptist Church and on a truck parked at the Wildwood Country Club, according to The Tallahassee Democrat. Members of a third church, Mount Olive Primitive Baptist Church, found the letters spray painted on their church sign Wednesday night before choir practice.

Church vehicles damaged by spray paint vandals

Bartlesville, Oklahoma - Local police have received several more reports concerning a string of spray paint vandalisms that reportedly occurred Tuesday night and/or Wednesday morning.

Bartlesville Police Department Capt. Jay Hastings said Thursday that four more reports have surfaced since Wednesday, when the E-E first reported that vandals had spay painted vehicles in east Bartlesville.

“We had four more, including a church van and trailer,” Hastings said.

A child-care provider’s van was among some of the vehicles reportedly hit previously. Like the child-care van, Hastings says, the church van was marked with profanities and an obscene drawing.

Methodist church stained glass window damaged by vandal

Members of Berryton United Methodist Church were shocked after someone damaged an antique stained glass window early last week.

According to a report with the Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office, someone did more than $1,000 of damage to the church, 7010 S.E. Berryton, between 6 p.m. Dec. 2 and 8:30 a.m. Thursday.

Robin Ruiz, a volunteer with the church, said someone threw an object at an antique stained glass window that shows Jesus knocking on a door. A piece of plexiglass covering the window protected it somewhat, but the vandalism still broke a hole in the glass near Jesus’ feet, she said.
